10 Steps to Attract the Life You Want

“What you seek is seeking you.”


If I told you that you could create the exact type of life circumstances you want, would you call me crazy?

What if your very thoughts could create ripples of change that not only impact your life…

…but those around you as well?

Philip, a call center worker from the Philippines certainly didn’t think so. He dreamed of moving overseas so he could secure a better life and provide for his family. 

But at every turn, his own mind shut down every opportunity he thought of. 

For instance, Philip considered seeing an immigration consultant, but he either “didn’t have the time” or “couldn’t afford it”.

So, he resented his situation and cursed himself (and the world) for his “bad luck”. 

He didn’t realize that the real culprit was his mindset – not his circumstances. 

And it seemed like the more he ruminated, the more bad things happened. 

Thus, he kept feeding the cycle of being stuck in a rut and feeling bad, trapping him even more.

That was, until his aunt Sara introduced him to the Law of Attraction.

Part 4: Inner Critic’s Role in Building Self-Confidence

Do you notice and listen to that tiny voice inside ourselves? Strange but it is true that you may succumb to a somber and mediocre way of life depending on how you respond to those promptings. There is no biological or scientific explanation to this voice, but we all hear them.

Do you know what your inner critic is telling you now?  Do you believe its validity?

In the last blog post, we talked about increasing your self-confidence. Today, we are going to deal on how your inner critic affects your self-confidence.

Do you notice and listen to that tiny voice inside ourselves?  Strange but it is true that you may succumb to a somber and mediocre way of life depending on how you respond to those promptings.  There is no biological or scientific explanation to this voice, but we all hear them.

Although there are two types of voices – one in a form of good motivation and the other stemming from fear.  The latter being an innate automatic response to protect us from hurt.  But ironically this inborn whispering voice would tell us that we are not good enough, we are worthless, or we cannot do anything right.  Sounds familiar?

Part 3: Building Self-Confidence

This is Part 3 of the 12 series on “Building Self-Confidence” and we will be discussing more on how to increase your self-confidence today.  Are you ready to get on with it?

The Dalai Lama said that and he is right.

The main crutch of confidence lies in the perception of ourselves. And so we have to improve our self-perception.  But the work comes with a better understanding of how well you would accept the experiences you go through in life as IS.   It may be easier said than done but some people are just better at recognizing their abilities and achieving their goals than others.

The truth is only you will know your life and nobody else.  That by itself makes each of us unique.  You may look around and say, how come that person can interact with much confidence and deals with everyone with a good sense of self-assurance.  Where did that come from?

You must know that there is a power within all of us to achieve anything.  Truth be told that as we came into the world, we were also born with a divine birthright – free will.  The problem is that our “free will” may have been restrained by our parents and elders who thought that they always knew better.  With much love, they may have intended to protect you from the heartaches and pain while growing up.  In the process, they may have weakened your capacity to be audacious.

Ways to Increase Your Self-Confidence

Although we cannot change our past, the good news is no matter where we are at this point in our life, we only live in this present moment and which we have total control of.  Therefore, to overcome the lack of confidence it is important not to be too hard on yourself when certain things do not go as well as expected.  Be kind to yourself and do not deprive yourself of enjoying life.  Take a good stock of yourself and refrain from making excuses as to why you cannot reach your goals.

As many of us find ourselves limited by our experiences, that does not mean that we can not learn and grow from those experiences and change our perception of ourselves.  Remember that a belief is just a thought that you keep on thinking.  In other words, you can learn to change the way you think about yourself.  As a start, you can merely change your mindset and think instead of all the positive things you already have in your life.

The manner by which you improve your confidence is achieved only when you dare to do things that are out of your comfort zones.  Staying in that zone though leads to failure in recognizing the simple things that may propel you to achieve that level of confidence you desire.  Therefore, reflect on your small achievements and celebrate them.  When you do, you will find out that there are a lot more of those that you never knew about yourself.

Once you recognize your inner potential, you will find that life has much more to offer than mediocrity.  Believe that we are all gifted with certain talents, skills, and beauty within us along with the power to use or disregard them.  

Important Habits to Develop Everyday

You can build your self-confidence in a multitude of ways.  Activities like developing your verbal skills through writing and public speaking will help increase your sense of self.

You might feel frozen with the fear of public speaking and I had known quite a few.  However, in my experience, taking mini steps in conquering it will help you master fear one step at a time.  Look at the mirror and practice until you see that part of you speaking well to an audience.  As you overcome that challenge, you will discover that your confidence will increase more and more to the point that even mastering it becomes a piece of cake.  This holds true for any type of fear you may have.

When you make up your mind not to succumb insecurity, a world of possibilities will open.  Moreover, once you commit to telling yourself that “I will not give anyone the satisfaction of knowing that I can be intimidated in any way,” you will discover that you got the same power as the person you admire after all.

By being open and recognizing that life holds endless possibilities, you can take control of your life and be a strong and confident person who is capable of accomplishing anything you set your mind to.

Your Assignment

In your journal, write about how the false beliefs you have about yourself and then opposite it, write a positive statement or affirmation to cancel the negative thought.  An example of a false belief: “I am always denied of promotion.” An affirmation would be: “I am worthy of every good thing life can offer.”  Keep on saying it until it sinks in.

This new daily habit you have to daily develop will be your starting point in replacing the false beliefs with a positive affirmation.  Soon enough you will begin to see how easy it is to cancel out a negative thought.

Part 2: Building Self-Confidence

In the previous post, we talked about the signs of low self-confidence.  Today, we are going to go over several different ways that you can increase your self-confidence.

Even though we dream of being perfect and we see other people who appear self-confident and flawless, we must realize that no one can be perfect. We are all human and we all make mistakes all the time.  And I have to say, that is okay.  That is part of human nature.  We are here to experience life.

Do not be fooled!  Even the most confident people have their insecurities and the people who appear extremely self-confident are not perfect. Because no one is!

With age comes maturity and maturity comes from the experiences we go through.  Experience is one of the greatest teachers we have. And when we fail to learn from the experiences we encounter, that only keeps us reliving the same type of conditions over and over again.  Until we are ready to accept our current conditions and resolve to move past the disappointment, we would not be able tostop the cycle of self-defeat.

Part 1: Building Self-Confidence

Do you want to improve your self-confidence?  On this first part of a series of blog posts, you will learn valuable information on how you can successfully build your self-confidence and live life feeling strong, confident and self-assured.
